冬ふかみ氷にとづる山川のくむ人なしととしやくれなむ

fuyu fukami
kōri ni tozuru
yamakawa no
kumu hito nashi to
toshi ya kurenamu

Deep in winter
Sealed with ice is
The mountain stream, with
Not one to scoop its waters—
Might that be how the year’s twilight falls?
