Mibu no Tadamine

Little is known of Mibu no Tadamine 壬生忠岑 – his dates of birth and death are uncertain – but after distinguishing himself at the ‘Poetry Competition at Prince Koresada’s House’ (Koresada no Miko no Ie no Uta Awase) in 893, he proceeded to be noted voice in early Heian poetry during the period 898-920. Along with his more famous contemporary, Ki no Tsurayuki, he was one of the compilers of the Kokinshū, and is well represented in the collection.
