When I went to the same place on the first day of the Tenth Month, Middle Captain Michitsuna had been there since dawn; as expected, I saw him in summer clothes.

身に近き名をたのむとも夏衣きのふ着かへてきたらましかば

kinoFu kikaFete
kitaramasikaba
Light upon the skin
It is, ’tis said, yet
Your summer garb
Had you but changed yesterday, and
Come – O, how much better…
