SKKS IV: 287

Part of a hundred-poem sequence, composed in the conception of the start of autumn.

このねぬるよのまに秋はきにけらしあさけの風のきのふにもにぬ

kono nenuru
yo no ma ni aki wa
kinikerashi
asake no kaze no
kinō ni mo ninu
While I slept,
In one night’s space, Autumn
Has come, it seems:
Dawn’s breezes
Are not as those of yesterday.
