Tachibana no Michisada was married to Izumi Shikibu at some point between 995-999; it is known that the marriage was unharmonious and they separated sometime later. Michisada was appointed governor of Michinoku in 1004, by which time Izumi Shikibu was living at the house of Prince Atsumichi.
