Left

とどむれどいまはかぎりとゆく秋のわりなくをしくおもほゆるかな

It has lingered, yet
Now is the end, and with
Autumn’s leaving
Beyond all reason, regret
Do I feel!

If at Meeting Hill’s
Barrier autumn hues did

[i] The central part of this poem appears to have been corrupted as the division kokoro shi to tomo / ni zo wataru is anomalous as it places the bound morphemes ni zo at the beginning of a line. Given this, my translation is speculative.

Where might it be that
Autumn does go?
To the land of Tsu,

If you hear that, then put your trust in it!

Within the evergreen mountains
Autumn has halted.

How I regret it, yet
Autumn does not linger upon
Tatsuta Mountain:
Its autumn leaves as a garland
To the skies it seems to offer.
