While the feelings of regret
In other’s hearts
I have not known,
The autumn showers
Have rained age upon me… |

The Princess of Tatsuta:
A deity for offerings
Is in this place, so
Autumn leaves from the trees
Scatter for her garlands. |
Prince Kanemi
Composed when he was on his way somewhere and saw maidenflowers planted at a house.

Oh, maidenflower,
How troubling
To see
A house all overgrown
With but a single bloom. |
