白雪のふりてつもれる山ざとはすむ人さへや思ひきゆらむ

The white snow
Has fallen, drifted high around
The mountain home;
Might even he who lives there
Be buried in melancholy?

Has fallen, covering all, so
Even on the crags bloom
Flowers, or so it seems.
