Snow around a temple

うちつけに物ぞかなしきはつせ山をのへのかねの雪の夕暮

uchitsuke ni
mono zo kanashiki
hatsuseyama
onoe no kane no
yuki no yūgure

Suddenly,
All is sadness,
On Hatsuse Mountain with
The bell tolling from the peak,
Amid the evening snow.
