The Awata Palace

The Awata Palace 粟田殿, was a moutain retreat owned by Fujiwara no Michikane (960-995). The son of Fujiwara no Kane’ie (929-990), a man who achieved the positions of Regent, Chancellor and Prime Minister, Michikane’s future seemed assured, but his life was cut short by illness.
