Fujiwara no Iefusa

Lord Fujiwara no Iefusa, Junior Second Rank, Headquarters of the Inner Palace Guards, Left Division, Provisional Middle Captain and Provisional Master of the Empress Household Office

従二位行左近衛権中将兼中宮権大夫藤原朝臣家房 (1167-1196)

Iefusa, too, came from illustrious stock, being the eldest son of Chancellor and Grand Minister Fujiwara no Motofusa 藤原基房, while his mother was the daughter of Minister of the Centre Fujiwara no Kin’nori 藤原公教. His highest position was Provisional Middle Councillor at Junior Second Rank, but at the time of the Roppyaku-ban Uta Awase he was Provisional Master of the Empress’ Household Office 中宮権大夫, and is frequently referred to as such. He was a cousin and poetic friend of Fujiwara no Yoshitsune藤原良経, who composed several laments in mourning following his death.
