Sanekata’s original poem refers to a specific place, Koshi 越, which was mountainous and, therefore, well known for its snow. Koshi, however, also can mean ‘hips’ or ‘backside’, so Sanekata is poking fun at the young Michinaga’s complaint about the cold.
