Spring 13

花の香も風こそよもにさそふらめこゝろもしらぬ故郷の春

hana no ka mo
kaze koso yomo ni
sasourame
kokoro mo shiranu
furusato no haru
The blossoms’ scent
To all four corners has the wind
Beckoned away, no doubt;
How little my heart knows
Of long-gone springs at home.

今日こずは庭にや春のゝこらまし梢うつろふ花の下風

kyō kozu wa
niwa ni ya haru no
nokoramashi
kozue utsurou
hana no shita kaze
Had I not come today,
Would spring within my garden
Still remain, I wonder?
Fading on the treetops,
Blossoms stripped by winds beneath.
