This is thought to be a reference to a pasidönö – a roofed-over structure built across streams and ponds in aristocratic dwellings of the period – not an actual bridge.

The Asuka River had numerous places where the flow of the water was disturbed, hence it seems that the sima nö miya was also referred to as the tagi nö mikado, “the Palace of Roiling Waters”.
