おほゐ川ゐせきの水のわくらばにけふはたのめしくれにやはあらぬ

wakuraba ni
kyō wa tanomeshi
kure ni ya aranu
Upon the Ōi River
At the weirs the waters
Seethe—for once
Today you had promised me
The evening, had you not?

matsura ga oki o
izuru funabito

I know not, but parting’s
Sadness strikes
On the offing at Matsura where
He departs on his boat…
