KKS V: 282

When he had not served at Court for some time and was in seclusion at a mountain retreat, he composed:

おく山のいはがきもみぢちりぬべしてる日のひかり見る時なくて

oku yama no
iFagaki momidi
tirinubesi
teru Fi no Fikari
miru toki nakute
Deep within the mountains
Hard against crags the Autumn leaves
Must have fallen;
Light from the shining sun
Is blotted out.

Fujiwara no Sekio
