Love I: 26

Left (Win).

今日もまた歸らん憂さを思ふかな尋ねかねにし心ならひに

kyō mo mata
kaeran usa o
omou kana
tazunekanenishi
kokoro narai ni
Today, again,
I must head home,
The unfairness of it I feel, for
When I could not call on you
My feelings were the same…

Lord Kanemune.

Right.

今宵さへたゞや歸らん月故に友を尋ねし人ならなくに

koyoi sae
tada ya kaeran
tsuki yue ni
tomo o tazuneshi
hito naranaku ni
This night, too,
I wonder, will I head home?
Though on account of the moon, alone
Gone calling –
I am not such a man as that!

Lord Tsune’ie.

The Gentlemen of the Left and Right state the opposing team’s poem lacks thought.

Shunzei’s judgement: The Right’s reference to Dai Andao is quite commonplace. The final section of the Left’s poem is fine.
