Naizen no myōbu 内膳の命婦 which I have translated here as ‘Mistress of His Majesty’s Breakfast’, was a title given to the lady-in-waiting in charge of overseeing the the preparation and serving of the emperor’s food . This holder of the office features in a number of poetic exchanges around this time, but no details of her actual identity remain known.
