KKS XVII: 928

Composed gazing at Otowa Falls at Mount Hiei.

おちたぎつ瀧の水神年つもり老いにけらしむ黑きすぢなし

otitagitu
taki no minakami
tosi tumori
oinikerasimu
kuroki sudi nasi
Tumbling seething
Atop this waterfall’s deity’s locks
The years have piled;
And he has grown old, it seems,
For there’s not a strand of black.
