Ōe no Tamemoto 大江為基 was a son of Consultant Ōe no Tadamitsu 斉光 and the elder brother of the better known Ōe no Sadamoto 定基 (the Monk Shakushō 寂昭) . He was appointed to provincial governorships in both Mikawa 三河 and Settsu 摂津, but had to surrender his position on the grounds of ill health and was eventually appointed as Provisional Director of the Bureau of Books and Drawings (zusho gon-kami 図書権頭). He is principally remembered now for the poems he exchanged with the well-know poets Akazome Emon 赤染衛門 and the Monk Anbō 安法.
