Sanekata Shū 145

When I had sent a letter to a lady, and she had not replied, I tied a belt in a three-fold loop and sent it to her

尋ばかり離りてまろと丸寢せむその総角のしるしありやと

Firo bakari
sakarite maro to
marunesemu
sono agemaki no
sirusi ari ya to
Just two hand’s span
Apart, with me
Won’t you, still clothed, lay down?
A three-fold loop,
Has this meaning, does it not?
