おなじ枝になきつつをりしほととぎすこゑはかはらぬものとしらずや

nakitsutsu orishi
hototogisu
koe wa kawaranu
mono to shirazu ya

On the same branch,
Always singing was
This cuckoo, too,
His song ever unchanging—
