たのめぬに君くやとまつよゐのまのふけゆかでたゞあけなましかば

tanomenu ni
kimi ku ya to matsu
yoi no ma no
fuke yukade tada
akenamashikaba
He made no promise, yet
Wondering if he’ll come, I wait,
In the early evening;
If only it would stay this way,
Remaining light…

nashi hateji
shirasete koso wa
mi o mo uramime
Beyond measure
Are the blunders of my heart, and
Quite unstoppable;
But in revealing my feelings,
I can only curse my clumsiness.
