With his own wings a breath of wind

How frozen
His tears must be… |

Heaven’s cloak,
Spread, bringing spring, the sky,
In the calm at morning time,
Upon the bay at Sodeshi
The haze is appearing. |

In an instant
The pine-bough breaking
Wind ceases, and
All over the Bay of Mio
Haze seems to appear. |
The beginning of Spring.

On this day of all days
The rough winds rustle
The leaves of brief bamboo
And the mountains’ depths are hazed:
Spring is here, indeed. |
