おひかはるはるのわかくさまちわびてはらのかれのにきぎすなくなり

oikawaru
haru no wakakusa
machiwabite
hara no kareno ni
kigisu naku nari

For the change to growth
In spring of shoots of grass
Does he sorrowfully await,
Out upon the withered plain
A pheasant is a’crying.
