Mitsune is referring here to the well-known Chinese legend of the Queen Mother of the West (西王母: seiōbo (Jap.); xiwangmu (Chin.)) who was said to cultivate peaches which ripened only once every three thousand years and would bestow immortality on anyone who ate them.
