おとにきくよしののさくら見にゆかむつげよやまもりはなのさかりは

oto ni kiku
yoshino no sakura
mi ni yukamu
tsugeyo yamamori
hana no sakari wa
By repute I’ve heard of
Yoshino’s cherries, so
Them I’ll go and see!
Tell me, Mountain warden,
Of the blossoms’ profusion!
