秋のよに雁かもなきてわたるなりわが思ふ人の事づてやせし

Is that the geese a’crying
As they pass by?
There is one I love—
Would you take a message to her?

花薄そよともすれば秋風の吹くかとぞ聞くひとり寝る夜は

When the silver grass fronds
Rustle all together,
I wonder if ‘tis our autumn wind
Blowing that I hear,
Tonight, as I sleep alone…
