SKKS XI: 1036

On ‘hidden love’ in a hundred poem sequence.

わがこひはしる人もなしせくとこの涙もらすなつげのを枕

wa ga koi wa
shiru hito mo nashi
seku to kono
namida morasu na
tsuge no omakura
Of my love,
There’s not a one who knows;
O, dam up these
Tears of mine, so they won’t drench you,
My little boxwood pillow!

SKKS VII: 734

When she presented a hundred poem sequence.

あめのしためぐむくさ木のめもはるにかぎりもしらぬみよのすゑずゑ

ame no shita
megumu kusa ki no
me mo haru ni
kagiri mo shiranu
miyo no suezue
Beneath the firmament
The budding plants
Put forth shoots in spring, and with eyes fixed on the distance,
Its bounds unknown to all,
This reign will continue on.
