ながめわびそれとはなしに物ぞおもふ雲のはたての夕ぐれの空

kumo no hatate no
yūgure no sora
Sorrowful, I lift my gaze, but
She’s not there, is all
My gloomy thought;
Beyond the streaming clouds
Lies the evening sky.

Burning beneath,
I shall die of love;
Even my smoke
Leaving no mark among the clouds:
A sad ending, indeed.
