Underbelt
Tying with the cockerel’s
Crow, arising,
At this morning’s parting
I weep, all forlorn!

My limits
I have not reached, I think, but
At dawn
Parting from your bed,
Rising is so wretched.

FGS XIII: 1241

From among her love poems.

かくやはとおぼえしきはもおぼえけりすべて人にはなれでぞあらまし

kaku ya wa to

Can I endure more?
I wondered at my limits:
That’s how I felt;
If only all of it—including him—
Had never been: that’s what I wish now!
