Clouds

With the gusting wind
Scudding through the skies go
The drifting clouds
How long until distant
Objects they might become?

Were there but space,
As perching on the paddy-ridges
Are the grey herons close
As the mounts ahead, in such detail
Would I tell you of my love.

As to Suminoe’s
Shore rush the waves
Why every night
Upon the path of dreams
Do I hide from other’s eyes?

Comes my times of grief.
