ちとせふる霜の鶴をばおきながらひさしき物は君にぞありける

titose Furu
simo no turu woba
okinagara
Fisasiki mono Fa
kimi zo arikeru
A thousand years go by
For the frost-covered cranes
Beside you;
Even longer life will
Be yours, My Lord!

葦間より見ゆる長柄の橋柱昔の跡のしるべなりけり

From between the reeds
Can one see at Nagara

くればとく行きてかたらむあふ時のとをちのさとのすみうかりしも

aFu toki no
towoti no sato no
sumi ukarisi mo
At sunset, swiftly
Will I come to call;
When we meet
That in far distant Tōchi
Life was hard, I will recall…
